Latest Obsession

Saturday, 15 October 2016
As a mom, getting 'glam' everyday isn't an option. I hate to say it, but no makeup, comfy clothes with my hair up is my daily look. I know I know, I've heard it all before, I'm letting myself go, I'm not taking care of myself etc. But to be honest, since my son was born, my boyfriend has had a hectic and abnormal work schedule. His schedule changes every week, which means some weeks I'm with kayden all day and other weeks for half the day. Running after a toddler and a Maltese while maintaining a household isn't the easiest.
Nevertheless, like any girl, I like to get out of my sweats/workout clothes and enjoy a good pair of heels and having my hair done. One of the things I've gotten reintroduced to is lashes. The past few months I've really taken the time to update my makeup collection and buy things for myself and not feel guilty about it. My boyfriend urged me to buy lashes, and try them out.
Since I have made this purchase, I look forward to special occasions. I am not a super glam person while running errands so I leave my lashes for those times when I want to dress up, for instance, thanksgiving, anniversaries, birthdays etc.
My go to lashes are the individuals. The reason I love them is because I already have long lashes, and after applying mascara it takes my lashes to another level. I use 3-4 individual lashes to fill in the gaps, and my lashes instantly look full, stand out more, and look fluffy. It doesnt take much for my lashes to go to another level so this is perfect. For myself personally, I find individual lashes easier to apply, as it takes less time and requires less concentration. I personally love my lashes standing out more on the edges where my lashes tend to not stand out as much.
One of the main things I love is how natural they look. Because I use them to fill in the gaps to give a cohesive look, they blend in seamlessly, and look like they are part of my own lashes.
Individual lashes are also much cheaper then regular lashes. Regular lashes run for about $10-15$ whereas I can get a pack of individuals for about $6.
I have seen people say that individual lashes are much more difficult to apply then a strip but I feel the opposite! A few lashes go a long way (for me atleast) and I have had a better experience overall with individuals.

Beauty on a Budget

Thursday, 30 June 2016
Hey Guys!

While I love my brand name makeup products, you can find a lot of amazing deals at your local pharmacy/grocery store. Yes that's right, at many grocery stores you can buy makeup as well. I am going to go through all of my beauty favs that are at an amazing price point.

Foundation: Maybelline New York Dream Matte Mousse
This was my holy grail foundation for my last year of high school and university. I loved this product. It blended easily, it was a great price and it didn't settle into my dry areas. Another thing I loved, was it matched my skin perfectly. I have been thinking about going back to it for an everyday foundation. I am sure you all are wondering why did I switch. I wanted something that lasted longer on my skin. Little did I know about primer's, and how much that helped. I switched over to a department store makeup, and it worked great without a primer and setting spray so I just stuck with it.

Mascara: L'oreal Paris Voluminous Mascara
I heard about this mascara from a youtuber, and she was raving about it. She said it worked better then any department store mascara that she used. I picked it up, and while it was pricier then my normal mascara, I forked out the cash. Let me tell you, I have tried other mascara's since, and I have not been satisfied. I love big lashes, and I get that effect in one coat. Of course I am crazy so I go in with two. I fell in love instantly, other mascaras don't give me the full effect, and I feel that I need a lot more coats with other brands.

Eyeshadow
Drugstore eyeshadows have really stepped up their game. I have tried many brands, but my favorite by far is Hard Candy. I discovered them about 2-3 years ago during the holidays. I was looking for new eye shadows. and I love neutrals, so I found a fun pallet. I love sparkle as well, I feel as though it really brightens up my eyes, and makes me look more awake. I am so satisfied with this brand. I have 2 pallets from them, and they are my go-to's . Their pigmentation is amazing, and they last the whole day. I have worn them in the heat, and it doesn't budge. They are an affordable brand, which I love, and I can do so many looks with their shadows.

Lipstick
L'oreal and Revlon are my favorite lipstick brands. I didn't care to much for L'oreal mostly because of the scent that their lipsticks have, but I decided to try their line that was inspired by celebrities. They have a line of neutrals and red's. I can't get enough of their neutral line. They have great staying power, I had my lipstick on today for 6 hours before I wiped it off. I love Revlon's version of Clinique chubby sticks. I only have one color but I am in love with it. It is so moisturizing, it feels like a lip balm. The only reason I have one color is because they are always sold out! They are always in demand and my store can't keep up with it.

Primer: Maybelline New York Age Perfecting Primer
This is my holy grail. It is a gel formula, and glides perfectly on your skin. I let it sit on my skin for a few minutes, and put my foundation on top. I love the staying power my foundation has after applying it. The price has gone up from what it use to be, but it is still very reasonably priced.

Nail Polish- Sally Hansen Insta-dri
I am obsessed with this product, and I recommend this to everyone. Whether you are a mom, on the go, or just to busy, this nail polish is perfect. They have a wide range of colors, and you can have your nails painted in minutes. I love that I don't have to sit around and waste my evening painting my nails, and their color payoff is amazing!

Tinted Moisturizer / BB -CC Cream

Thursday, 12 May 2016
Hey Guys!

With the warmer weather creeping up on us, foundation and heavy makeup can be to much for the summer months. As a result we need to swap some things out of the makeup bag. The first one, should be your foundation!!

Even though I don't wear a full coverage foundation, or a heavy foundation it can still feel like to much, and feel like it is dripping off my face. When I was pregnant I cam across Almay CC cream in the spring time. I decided to give it a try because I had tried Maybelline BB cream and I didn't like it.

Almay CC cream is amazing. I got it in the shade light/medium and I love it! First off, it automatically adjusts to your skin tone, so I never have to worry about getting a little bit darker that I will like I'm wearing a mask. It blends easily, and lasts for a long time. It is so lightweight, I don't feel like I am wearing anything on my face. I wore it during the hot summer months and it was a life saver. I had natural looking skin, without it feeling heavy.

The only downside about this product, is that you can only keep it for one season. I tried to use it in the winter months because I wanted a light coverage and it had gotten watery, so it was unusable. It costs around $15 at Walmart.

CC Creams claim to color correct your skin, brighten, conceal, hide discoloration and has SPF.

I have heard people complain if you have oily skin, it is to dewy, but I haven't had that problem. I would definitely urge you all to pick this up today!

Skindinavia Setting Spray

Thursday, 5 May 2016
Hey guys!

This post is going to be about setting spray. I discovered setting spray about 3 years ago, and I haven't looked back. Setting sprays have become a staple in my makeup collection, all thanks to Skindinavia.  I came onto this, because my boyfriend and I had gotten rid of our car ( for financial reasons) so I was taking the bus to and from work. As a result I had 12 hour days! I wanted something that felt light on my face, and kept my makeup in place during the hot and long summer days. I had read multiple reviews and decided to purchase skindinavia. I always purchase 2 bottles and it lasts for months! I usually repurchase once a year because a little bit goes a long way.
I get oil control ( for summer months) and original ( for fall/winter). They go for $29 each, but as I said they last a long time. I do 3-6 spritz, depending on what my makeup is for the day. Plus, they always have codes for free shipping, or a free travel size, so you truly do get a lot for your money.

What I love

This spray truly lives up to what it claims to do. It helps your makeup stay in place for 16 hours, and gives you a flawless finish. It takes away the cakey look, and helps everything settle nicely. I have been out at bbq's in the hot summer heat, and my makeup does not budge. I hate retouching my makeup when I am at an event, dinner, running errands etc, and for the past 3 years I have never had to take touch up powder or anything with me. Even during the cooler months, this spray is a must for me. I have dry skin, and this spray does not dry me out, but gives me a beautiful finish. Regardless of what season it is, I use the spray.

I will admit I haven't tried another finishing spray, I have heard urban decay is great, but I have never felt the need to gravitate towards another setting spray. Keep in mind Urban decay is made by skindinavia. The only downfall, is that you have to order skindinavia online, but they do have speedy delivery, I get my products within 2-3 business days.

Browse their site...I gurantee once you purchase Skindinavia, you will never look back!

Favourite Makeup Products

Thursday, 14 April 2016
Hey guys!

so every spring and summer I go through my makeup bag, and I can't help but gravitate towards the same products time and time again. I've been wearing makeup since high school (grade 9), and I made a lot of mistakes, and it took a long time before I knew which products worked for me. I am going to go through the products in order that I apply them. My skin changes through the seasons, in fall/winter I have extremely dry skin and in spring/summer it turns oily.

I have gotten back into priming my face and have noticed a big difference. I have tried a few but I love the Maybelline instant age rewind primer. it goes on clear, and it is a gel formula. I always wait atleast 2 minutes before applying my foundation afterwards. I love how long lasting my foundation stays, even if I don't use a setting spray, and my foundation glides on.  You can check it out at www.maybelline.com

For about 5 years now I have been using the same foundation. Which is clinique stay matte foundation in neutral. I love it. Even if I don't use a primer it stays on for a long time, and it is a medium coverage. A little bit goes a long way, and I love how natural it looks. I do not like dewy skin, because I feel as though I look oily, so this is perfect for me. It costs $32, but it lasts a long time, I have only repurchased this once.

The concealer I am about to mention is my holy grail. I have searched for so long for a concealer that won't settle in my fine lines, covers my dark circles and brightens under my eyes. I am talking about, benefit cosmetics boi-ing. I found out about this concealer almost 4 years ago, and I am obsessed with it. I have tried going back to another concealer and i am not satisfied. This concealer is creamy, and it glides onto your skin. It is so easy to blend out and lasts a long time. I have recently started using a setting powder, and when using it, it takes the concealer to another level. It is long lasting, and a product which never fails me. You can build it up or use a minimal amount, depending on the look you are going for and it works wonders! I can not get enough of this, and I am so happy I found this concealer, because I will never use anything else. I am in shade 02. You can get this from a lot of places, depending where you live, drugstores and sephora is a sure place you can purchase it. It goes for about 26$, the only downside is that there isn't a wide range of shades. When i first purchased it there was only 3 shades available and now there is 5.

I am not picky about eye shadows and I have never had an issue with it smudging. I apply concealer on my lids before hand and then proceed with the color. Right now I am using the hard candy pallets, which have shimmery shades. I have never had an issue with it smudging, they have stayed put in the heat, sweat and for long periods of time. They have a good price point, I got my pallet for 12$ from walmart.

For mascara I have tried all kinds, and its a tie between Maybelline great lash and L'oreal voluminous both in black. The last mascara I used was L'oreal, and when it was done I had a few others in my makeup bag, and I was so disappointed. Maybelline and L'oreal does a great job is making my lashes stand out, extending them, and I never felt as though I needed false lashes. I loved how full and healthy they looked. They were easy to remove, all I needed was some eye makeup remover and I was done. I never had an issue with flaking, and my boyfriend always complimented my lashes. These two brands are a must in my makeup bag. I have black lashes that are already full, but I do like my lashes to be a little dramatic and stand out, and I feel as though these 2 brands do a great job. Maybelline Great Lash can be purchased for about $5, whereas L'oreal voluminous can go for $7. They both can be found at any drugstore.

Blush is something that I love adding to my face because it adds color. I am light skinned so I can easily look washed out, and sick if I dont add color to my face.I love physician Formula blush in soft rose. There are multiple colors in compact, which gives a natural flush to the cheeks. You can build up the color if you want, or do something subtle. They claim you can contour and highlight with it, but I don't do that at all. It is around $16 .

My favorite bronzer is Laguna by Nars. This bronzer is amazing. I love using it in the spring/summer because it adds such a nice subtle glow and color to my face. I do not look fake or orange, and I look like I've been in the sun. I have recently hit pan on this, after having this for over 5 years!! there is a slight shimmer to it, but I don't see any sparkles on my face. It is quite expensive, but I do believe it is worth every penny. I have often heard people complain about looking orange or fake and I have never had this issue at all. I use a light amount on my face which looks so natural.

If you havent already been able to tell, I love natural colors, and my lipstick is no different. My favorite lipstick shade is called tiramisu from estee lauder. this lipstick is so natural on your lips and just enhances it.It is extremly moistuzing and a little goes a long way. I usually don't have to touch it up during the day.
