Kayden's Easter Basket

Monday 10 April 2017
Hey guys
Easter is just around the corner and im so excited about it. Every year that kayden gets older he is grasping the concept of holidays which makes it more fun. If you haven't read my other holiday posts, i will start off by saying that curtis and i are big believers in celebrating the true meaning of holidays. What that means, is we want to remind kayden and teach him why we celebrate it, and that it is not about the presents and the commercialized aspects of it. We want to enforce the importance of family and being grateful for all of our blessings.
Last easter kayden was only a year old, so he didn't understand what was going on. So we made him a tiny basket with chocolate and candy. This year is different. He is recognizing everything in the store and knows about God etc. Kayden has a lot more interest in Easter, so i wanted to make it more exciting for him.
This year i looked up some easter basket ideas. I didn't want to fill up his basket with candy and junk, so i decided to see what other moms were doing. One of the things i loved was seeing how the fun spring themed ideas.
Here are some things i saw
Chalk
Bubbles
Kite
Seeds for plants
Gardening tools
Toy makeup

I loved the idea of getting children excited for spring. We live in an apartment so a lot of times if we want to do anything we need to leave. We already have tons of bubbles since kayden is obsessed and we have nowhere to do chalk. I did look into getting seeds for him to plant but by the time i got stuff for his easter basket i realized i had enough.
This year i got kayden 2 activity packs which are paw patrol and peppa pig themed. Each pack comes with crayons, stencils, stickers and a coloring book. I also got an activity book that is spring themed. We went to costco on the weekend and i love their selection of books. We picked up 2 books for kayden, once again paw patrol and peppa pig (can you tell he is obsessed!?) I realized the paw patrol book is to big and wouldn't fit in his basket so i decided to set the Peppa pig book aside and put it in his basket. Luckily, he didn't remember. Now onto the candy, i will start off by saying that kayden wont eat half of it. We went to bulk barn to pick it up, so i could get what i needed. I picked up chocolate Cadbury eggs and spring themed smarties. I picked up enough to bake with and to put some in his easter eggs. I also got a chocolate bunny that's holding a football since he is obsessed with it. Kayden also saw a small pack of chocolates (once again spring themed) and picked it out himself.
